Synopsis
17-year-old Simone (a talented Lina Lund Jørgensen in her debut role) is a lonely teenager. Dating online, she starts an online long-distance relationship with a sweet and handsome Ghanaian man named Freeman (Daouda Keita). His messages sound loving and Simone persuades her reluctant father (Nicolas Bro, RIDERS OF JUSTICE, also in BOUNDLESS) and mother (Mia Lyhne, FOOD CLUB) to let him visit for two weeks. So, the polite Freeman arrives to stay with the family for a short time and Simone begins to fall for him. But how long can Freeman, who has a life back in Ghana, stay in Denmark? As Simone’s involvement with Freeman grows, the reluctance of her family increases, and soon Simone’s rebellion snowballs into an avalanche which threatens to tear the family apart forever. Written and directed by award-winning Danish director Mads Mathiesen, MR. FREEMAN is a sweet, feel-good film filled with down-to-earth everyday moments that explores the meeting of two different cultures through an unconventional coming-of-age romance.
