Synopsis

The long-awaited sequel to 2004 Danish hit film KING'S GAME, this political thriller is an adaptation of Niels Krause-Kjær’s bestselling second novel, MØRKELAND, about the adventures of investigative journalist Ulrik Torp. Directed by Mikkel Serup (THE CHESTNUT MAN) and starring Anders W. Berthelsen, reprising the lead role of Ulrik Torp who was once an aspiring young journalist. Now years have passed, and after a period of unemployment and a midlife crisis, Torp finds himself interning at his former workplace, DAGBLADET. When his old colleague and now editor-in-chief, Henrik Moll (Nicolas Bro, RIDERS OF JUSTICE) asks Torp to cover a murder of a young clerk at the Ministry of the Interior, Torp must navigate a new media reality controlled by clickbait and the echo chambers of social media. With the very future of Danish democracy in peril, it falls to Torp and two young interns to uncover a conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels of power in KINGMAKER, a topical and gripping political thriller about the state of democracy.
