The Wicker Man

In this haunting folk horror cult classic from Robin Hardy, presented in its 2013 Final Cut version, Police Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) travels to a remote Scottish island to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a young girl. A devout Christian, he observes the residents' frivolous sexual displays and strange pagan rituals, particularly the temptations of Willow (Britt Ekland), daughter of the island magistrate, Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee).

Glamourous Scandinavian Britt Ekland appeared in numerous films throughout the 1960s and '70s. Following The Wicker Man, she appeared as a Bond girl in 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun.

The Wicker Man is influential not just on subsequent horror cinema, but on the thriller genre in general in the way it sets an artfully composed series of traps for its unwitting protagonist.
